How would you like to retire to a diverse, vibrant city, one that is much, much more affordable than New York or San Francisco? Sarah Vogel opted for Philadelphia, a city which offers all the amenities of other major hubs at, what can be, a fraction of the price. Among other things, Philly is brimming with cultural and historic institutions, delicious eateries, pro-sports teams, many parks and wooded trails. Join us as we chat with Sarah Vogel about the City of Brotherly Love on Episode 66 of Retire There with Gil & Gene.
Road Scholar is an American not-for-profit organization that provides educational travel programs primarily geared to older adults.
Sarah Vogel was born in Washington DC, and grew up in Central/Northern New Jersey, except for several years as a teenager living in Europe where her dad had an assignment.
She attended St Joseph's University in Philadelphia, which played a big part in her moving back to Philadelphia. She was in the first class of women to enter the school. She also took graduate level classes after graduation near home.
She worked in banking for 38 years and retired in 2007, but returned to work about a year later then retired again for good in 2012. Hmmm, we’ll have to ask Sarah about that.
Her interests include spending time with her grandchildren, traveling, reading, flea markets, cooking, and getting together with friends and family.
