Author

Carolina Esguerra Colborn (who goes by Carol) had a distinguished career in Philippine business before immigrating to the US, namely, Seattle, Washington in 2004. She holds a bachelors in Mathematics, MBA, and DPA and from the University of the Philippines. By the time Carol retired, she had worked her way up to become CEO for pioneering IT companies in the Philippines. Twice a recipient of the Most Powerful Women in IT Award, she represented the private sector in the National Information Technology Council. In Seattle, while babysitting a grandson, she taught as an adjunct business professor at Seattle Central Community College, Central Washington University, and Renton Technical College. She also volunteered at SCORE, the Service Corps of Retired Executives, as a small business counselor and lecturer on marketing.
In 2015 Carol chronicled their epic journey in her travel book Carolina: Cruising to an American Dream. In 2020 she released two more books: Cruising in an RV, the basics you need to know and Cruising Past Seventy. It’s Not Only About Outer Journeys. It’s Also about Inner Ones. The first sentence of ``Cruising Past Seventy'' describes how her retired life began: “In 2004, I retired early and migrated to America, weighing just 101 pounds after burning out from a jet-set life in Manila.”
She maintains a travel blog, called Cruising Past 70, and writes bimonthly for travelawaits.com, an online travel magazine. Bill and Carolina now use Mesa, Arizona as a base for their travels within and outside the US. From there, they’ve traveled to 49 countries.
