David Pogue

Author and Television Personality

David Pogue wrote the New York Times weekly tech column from 2000 to 2013. He’s a six-time Emmy winner for his stories on CBS Sunday Morning, now with Jane Pauley [a show we love], a New York Times bestselling author, a five-time TED speaker, host of 20 NOVA science specials on PBS, and creator/host of the CBS News/Simon & Schuster podcast Unsung Science. By the way, we highly recommend a recent episode about Google Maps. [Gene: That episode blew me away]. And lest we forget, his annual segment, the Holiday List from Techno Clause, on CBS Sunday Morning.
This is what you may not know about David: He was born in Shaker Heights, Ohio and get this: he arrived on March 9th at 9:09 am, weighing 9 pounds, 9 ounces, and his parents had been married for 9 years. After graduating summa cum laude from Yale with distinction in music, Pogue spent ten years conducting and arranging Broadway musicals in New York.
He’s written and co-written more than 120 books, including the Missing Manual tech series, which he created in 1999, the For Dummies line (including Macs, Magic, Opera, and Classical Music); 2 novels; 3 bestselling Pogue’s Basics books of tips and shortcuts (on Tech, Money, and Life); and his 2021 magnum opus, How to Prepare for Climate Change.
David lives with his wife Nicki and their blended brood of five children.
